Attention ISU students

Published

I am an LPN single mom who does not have alot of money to throw around, just as I know alot of you don't either. I am so confused reading, what seems to be over hundreds of threads on how to get your BSN online. I live in Fla and I have to still do my pre reqs. Are any of you that are ISU students or planning on being ISU students going through TCN? I have an apt with them Sat. but keep getting mixed ideas and what to do from reading all these posts. Do I have to use them, or can I do it all on my own by buying what I need off of EBAY? And how do I know what to buy off EBAY if I so choose to take that route? Also, I don't know how to CLEP classes or acutually where to begin. Can anyone help me on what I should do? SO lost, so confussed........................................HELP ME PLEASE

Hi, NewFlgrad!

I know it is confusing! I'll try to help.

I am going through Excelsior College to get my ASN. They have an easy payment plan and the advisors are very helpful. Go to www.excelsior.edu for more info. I just finished my pre-reqs using the Dantes and Clep tests. Go to www.collegeboard.com for more info and testing sites near you.

TCN is nothing than a VERY expensive publishing company. You do not get any college credits from them-you get overpriced study guides.

The best study guides I have found on Ebay are from Lisa Arends-she has a study guide for all the pre-reqs and the Nursing Concept courses you will need. She also has tips for the CPNE. I hope this helps-feel free to PM me if you need more info! Good luck.

Hi,

Here is how I am doing this...

I called TCN and told them I was interested in ISU's LPN to BSN and wanted some info on all the classes I would have to take. They e-mailed me a cost and course list. I then told them I will get back to them when I need them (which I hope I don't). I also went on ISU's web site and downloaded their requirements as well just to double check. All of the non-nursing classes can be done thru credit by examinations. CLEP, Dantes, and Excelsior exams. You can also take traditional classes as well.

Hope this helps.

Let's all try to use the "STICKY" they have created for us on the top portion of the screen. Then we will always know where to look.

Ok, so I can CLEP all the pre req classes on my own, by using books and study guides off EBAY? And then go directly through ISU.......am I hearing that correctly?
