I have several books ... Saunders, Kaplan and the Prioritizing books, to name a few. Mostly, I'm using Saunders to study. Kaplan is mostly test-taking advice. I feel like I have a good grip on prioritizing, but I plan to go through the book once before my test date.

I don't know how to know if I'm ready to test. However, our ATTs are only good for so long, and in my case, my job gives me an even earlier deadline. It seems everyone suggests taking it sooner, rather than later. Several people in my class are taking the NCLEX within the next two weeks, which is right around a month after we graduated. Personally, I signed up for a day that's about 2 months after graduation. I have a lot of test anxiety, and with the holidays, I haven't been spending the time preparing that I wanted to do. So, I gave myself a bit more time. However, I'll be into my internship at this point, so how much time I have to truly study remains to be seen.

Best of luck to you!

Just a little advice. Take a review and by review I dont mean Kaplan. They are widely known because they have the resources to put themselves out there. I took a ten day review from from Excell nursing review and it was the best money I have ever spent. They go over everything you need to know on the exam, including priority and infection control, and how to prioritize giving the meds. They have several instructors that go with each category that they go over. The instructors are the same all the time and are specialists in their area as well as having masters degrees. Some have been teaching for over 15/20 years. People know of this review by word of mouth. They travel all over the united states and teach. I took Kaplan as my first review because everyone did it and I got a substiture because the original person could not make it. I also felt that I learned nothing. So I failed the 1st exam at 75. I took Excell and then I passed with 75. Most my questions were infection control, delegation, priority meds, prioritizing, ect. this is long but hope it helps.

I took my boards in June. My advice is to do as many practice questions as you can. The only thing I used was Saunders. I did nothing but practice questions for 3 weeks and I passed in 75 questions in just under an hour. Good luck to all of you!!!

Still waiting for my ATT. I want to take my test around the middle February, but I'm not sure whether there will be any appointments left at that time. Since we switched to ATI this semester at our school, the seniors were given access to all online review modules. The skills modules are great. I love the new Saunders CD. It has a lot of modes to use it. It also has a pre-assessment on it. The only thing is that the rationales are not a thorough.

I'm a January morning tester. I study in the afternoons but I am not a good test taker at that time. Have you thought of a different date? Sometimes it is as simple as changing one test day to get the time you want. You have time to change without being penalized.

Thanks for all the tips. I've been trying to decide if I want to take a review class.

MBA2BRN -- There weren't any afternoon appts available in from Jan-March at any of the locations that were close to me. I'm used to taking my school tests in the morning, so hopefully that will be practice enough at having my brain function so early in the morning. I might switch to an earlier date if I start feeling more confident. I get so much test anxiety!

Good Luck. I take mine on Jan. 6th!
