i sometimes get calls from friends/family of patients and idk if the secretary gave them my number or just connected them somehow and was wondering if someone from the outside could actually call onto the ascom phone

Just dial 911

Have had confused patients do this from their beds. One poor thing was screaming that he'd been taken prisoner and was being kept against his will. Not pretty.

Yes someone can call the ascom, it's still a phone with a normal phone number assigned to it. Typically the last five digits are used to call each other in network but if you look at your assigned phone you'll be able to see it's area code and the other seven digits assigned to that particular phone.
