I've never heard of AAS. AS is Associate's Degree, Science. This is the degree ADN grads have.
Excelsior offers the nursing degree in AS, Associate in Science, or AAS, Associate in Applied Science. I can't figure out what the difference is. I asked them but they don't seem to know either ;p I just wanna make sure I'm not stuck when I go for the bachelor's.

As I understand it...AAS is designed to prepare students for immediate careers and employment..and the AS is designed to prepare students for transfer to four year colleges to pursue their Bachelor's degree.

I have an AAS degree and have been an RN for 5 years. I'm now going back to take the classes required for an AS.
The difference between the 2 degrees is Algebra, government, speech/communications, & humanities.
With those courses, one can transfer to continue their education.
umm......queenie........think maybe ya got that backward........?
this came straight off the ec website and i printed it out so i could compare what i had and what was required.. this only applies to ec....

Better check with the college from which you intend to earn the baccalaureate.

The defining characteristic between an AS and an AAS has always been the fact that the AAS degree prepares one for immediate employment, whereas the AS degree is for transfer to a 4-year college/university. Numerous universities automatically accept the AS as having completed the gen ed courses for most degrees. AAS degrees are only transferred on a course-by-course basis, if at all.
