Army reserve

ok i wanted to ask a couple questions about the army or navy reserve. if i decide to sign up for the army or navy reserve as a nurse will i have to leave and go overseas for a long time. depends on what unit you are with and if they deploy overseas. when i was in the naval reserves as a enlisted corpsman i deployed to camp lejuene, nc for a year in 2002. i transfered to the army reserves shortly after that and the same unit went to iraq for 6 months. while in the army reserves i deployed to kosovo for 1 year with 2 1/2 months of work up before going overseas. other nurses in my army reserve unit deployed to various army hospitals & clinics stateside for 1 year. last year i returned to active duty and if i had not i was scheduled to be mobilized for a year on a stateside tour with a training support battalion. i know this is not true for everyone but this is my experience. the army reserves are on a 5 year rotation cycle. which means every 5th year your unit or members of your unit are up for mobilization. this does not mean that you will be mobilized thou.

do anyone know how this works, some people said you work at a facility of theirs on a weekend and thats about it depending on the committment. and 2 weeks a year. as above it depends on the unit and on their 5th year if they are army reserves. i do not know if the naval reserves have some type of rotation schedule. i do know of some, not many, in both services who have not been mobilized for one reason or another.

i would love to be a part of this but i don't want to be apart of my family everyday. what are the requirements to be a nurse with the reserve? thanks for any info, i would love to apply for their nurse anesthesia program in the future.

Does anyone know if they are still take older professionals under the two year service obligation? I have a BSN + MSN
