My friend's husband is active army, she was telling me today that theres an accelerated program where she can get her RN in one year....through the army....I've never heard of such an animal and dont understand how that would work....she has only CNA cert....am I misunderstanding her or she misunderstanding the Army?

She's mistaken. The Army has an LPN school, but no RN school, and certainly not one that takes a year.

As Lunah has stated there us no RN school in the Army. the only 1year BSN programs I have heard of are ones who already have a bachelor degree. The programs in the Army to get your BSN you have to apply for after you enlist and after you have around 60 credits. The number of slots are decreasing and it is competive to get in the program.

I figured so, but there is no arguing with her. Thanks! Ifelt like I was loosing what little marbles I had left.

Sometimes people believe what they want to believe, until something smacks them full force on their forehead! Accession programs come and go in the Armed Forces, and usually coincide more with their personnel needs during times of crisis or the state of the economy. Even then, usually the early bird gets the worm, so to speak. Your friend will find out the real deal should she decide to make a visit to the recruiter.
