Hi Becks & Sofaraway, my tittle is Health & Social care Worker & I work in the community nursing people who have a terminal illness such as Huntingtons & MS. I'm not officially an HCA but I do look at myself as an extension of the HCA. I will be leaving in September to do my Access Course & then hopefully on to do my training............God I can't wait lol. Anyway sorry to babble on hope to catch you soon.

Hi mr jingles and sofaraway, its nice to know there are some hca's on the site. No i do not want to do my training i am happy in the role that i am doing at the moment. I mentor all the new hca's that come on to our ward. I am pleased to hear that you are thinking of doing your training, good luck to you. I have just completed the nvq assessors course, so i think that will be my next step. Not at the moment thou as i enjoy all the hands on with the patients. Take care and good luck

HCA = Health Care Assistant..... they through training can assist RN's with certain cares of a patient... wound dressings, bm monitoring plus other duties, job varies depending on requirements of hospital
Thank you................ :)
your welcome :)
becks, does where you are going have 2 intakes? my uni has a september and january intake, so if you are too late you dont have to wait a whole year. with being seconded how many shifts do you have to 'pay back' ?
hi sofaraway in the trust i was seconded from i only have to stay within the trust for 12 months as a trained and then i've kept to the contract and can move elsewhere if i want to
