I was just wondering but what are my chances of being accepted if my cumulative GPA is a 3.45, my pre-req is a 3.60? My composite score was a 70...
I'm taking my last required science and also Pharmacology 203 right now. Would taking the additional pharm 203 class (not required for Fall) help me?
Do I have a chance??

good luck to you! i am sorry, but i do not know if i can be of any help. i too, am wondering if my scores are good enough. i am applying with:
pre-requisite gpa-4.0
cumulative gpa-3.43
net scores- 88%.
i have all my ge requirements completed, and am currently enrolled in ma 100 & pharm 203. i do know that although they allow you to take your last science & non-science classes this semester, that they do not count toward your gpa.
other than that, i am not sure. please let me know when you hear something. when i talked to the admissions office they said after your application was reviewed, that i would recieve a letter of completion regarding my application, then sometime between apr 1 & may 1, i would hear regarding admission...
like i said, good luck to you, and let me know if you hear anything. i will post on here, when i hear back from the admissions office.
btw-where are you taking pharm 203? i am taking it a lcc with tanji, the online class.

i am taking the lecture class w/ tanji. how'd you do on the first exam? too bad he doesn't curve the exam grades! the first test would've boosted me up to an a.
good luck on your admission for this fall. i hope we can both make it in.
The first test I got an "A" but I studied so hard. How is lecture class? For the online version, you read his powerpoints and read the chapter and have weekly quizzes...I am assume it is similar to your class? I almost did the on-campus version, but my jobs hours just shifted making going to campus impossible.
I just don't know...according to the Manoa online orientation, a competitive applicant has a CUM GPA of 3.3
Pre Req GPA of 3.5, and test scores around 75%, as well as having stats & FSHN 475 completed along with Phrm 203.
The last three make me a bit nervous, I do not have Stats or FSHN completed, although I am enrolled in Pharm now...Do you have any of these courses completed?
When I took my NET test, someone was planning on applying, she had everything completed listed above, as well s her nursing elective needed for the 5th semester.
This is so nerve racking. Have you applied before? Anyways, good luck for now!

i graduated this pass December 2008 so i hope i can help.
When I tried to get in January 2005 my nursing GPA was a 3.7, cum was 3.5 because of some stupid freshmen classes. The back in the day counselor Kate said my chances was going to be hard because of those stupid C and D. But because I had a NET score of 90% I also had a good chance.
I found out I got in when I received a BIG envelope from UH. Keep in mind they also send a small letter to say receive your application and/or alternate list. Dont be discourage if you get alternate list. Because they selected 2 or 3 in my class of 40 to be in our class from the list.
Per Kate: Better chances for you I hear if you are Male, Hawaiian, taken more classes for General graduation, and scored high on your SAT. There is suppose to be a list in the nursing desk about the so called point system that is used to select applicants. They wont allow you to photocopy it you can only view it.

Hi guys! I applied for the fall 09 semester too. I haven't heard anything back yet though, so I'm a bit worried. I haven't even gotten a letter saying whether they've received my application or not. Anyone else hear anything?
I think you guys have a pretty good chance of getting in. I've heard people getting in with relatively low GPAs. I think the more classes you've taken the better your chance because it'll give you a boost when they're adding up points. I don't think FSHN or STAT is taken into account tho because they're technically classes that are in the nursing curriculum when you get accepted.
please let me know when you guys hear something

Hey everyone,
I also applied for Fall '09. My gpa is not that great, though my NET score is pretty good. I am applying with a 3.4 for both pre-req and cumulative gpa, and a NET score of 88%.
For everyone above, I know all of you will get accepted since your guys gpa's are great. If I don't get in, I guess I'll have to retake two classes:( since we are only allowed to retake up to 6 credits.
Good luck everyone,
Hope to hear from you guys soon.

i just started this semester (spring 09). i got in w/ 4.0 pre-req, 2.7 cum gpa 99 percentile NLN. plus the sat bonus. so yea. i got no points for cum gpa but my other stuff made up for it.
Just curious what do you mean by the SAT bonus? I haven't heard of that before.
Also, I am wondering what other classes did you have completed when applying...like did you have statistics completed? or Pharm?
How is your first semester going? Any tips or advice you can give us?

you get an extra point or two for a high SAT verbal score IIRC.
i did not have stats completed. i took pharm last semester (fall 08) so idk if that counted or not since it wasn't completed when i turned in my app (sep 08).
i like the program so far. take advantage of having a mentor if possible. some of the 2nd semester students have been very helpful to us. they came and talked to us during orientation and to let us sign up for the mentoring program.

I just want to say good luck to everyone!
I really wish they would start giving credit to people who have actual experience. I was an army medic for 3 years, also had EMT license, and now currently an advanced health aide. And if/when I do get in, my job will pay for half my tuition and books.
My cumulative sucks, pre-reqs pretty good, and NET 85%. I really wish I could have taken the NET again and actually tried. I literally took it the last possible day and actually had to wait for people to finish because I didn't have a reserved seat.
Let me know when you guys hear anything...
Does anyone know how many applicants there were for fall '09?
Just wondering...
