All schools are different.
The best thing to do is to go to the school and ask a counselor.
To my knowledge, most schools require all of the pre-reqs, entrance exams, etc before applying to the nursing program, others may do it different.
Good luck to you!

Many schools have several options. Mine has 3:
1. LPN to RN - LPN license, and a few pre-requisites, then apply to nursing program.
2. Traditional - Do all pre-requisites plus NET test, apply to nursing program.
3. Accelerated - for highschool seniors only. May take all classes - "pre-requisite" as well as nursing in the prescribed order.
Call the school you're considering and ask for a nursing information packet. Attend any nursing information sessions and ask any questions you may have. Make sure you understand the appropriate application/admission process and timeline, and follow it! Good luck to you!

Yes most schools are different, My school has you take English comp 1, Human growth and development,Psychology 101,Sociology 101, Anaotmy and physiology 1 and 2 and you must make at least 2.5gpa or "c" to be considered. If you decide not to take those pre req's you must take the NLN PN even though it is a ADN program to. You have to score in the 50th percentile to be considered. good luck

My college has "pre-requisites" and "co-requisites" but you have to complete them all before applying to the program. Sometimes you have to even apply a year in advance. If your school has a website it should explain everything on it. You should also talk to a councelor.
would it be a good idea to become a CNA while doing my pre-reqs for nursing? how long would it take to be a CNA? i think its a few weeks. how much would the pay be if i become a CNA. i am thinking of becoming CNA while doing pre-reqs so that i can gain experience because i have no experience with nursing.

All schools are different. My school will accept you into the Nursing program even if you haven't completed the Pre-req's. The local community college (ADN Program) requires all pre-req's completed before applying to the nursing program, and of course they have a 3 semester wait to begin. Many of those students transfer to my school (4 year degree) so they don't have to wait so long to begin.
