applying for license

Published

So I'm two years sober. Graduating nursing school this summer. Never have had any legal implications or anything on my record. Do I have to answer the question for my first nursing application about having a health issue that may impair practice and that I'm in monitoring? I haven't had a drink in 2 years, I'm in AA, I dont really feel like answering this question and getting labeled as a nurse in recovery when I was never even a nurse when I was drinking. How would they even find out I was an alcoholic? Thanks for your help!

If you have had no legal issues you dont need to report anything. You dont have a health issue that would impair practice because you are in recovery and have been. The board usually finds out if someone reports you going to treatment once you are licensed, they get a complaint, or there are legal issues thst would cause you to have to report upon renewal of licensure.

Thank you I appreciate you responding.
