Application by reciprocity in VT

Hello everybody,

I would like to ask if its mandatory to have a work experience prior to application of license for RN in state of vermont by reciprocity, and does an applicant need to provide SSN?

Your thoughts will be highly appreciated.

i suggest that you not endorse it when your not stil going to usa since it will just expire and if ever they issued a license to you it will just expires since the retrogression is present...and when you apply for renewal you will have a hard time since they are requiring you to present an ssn..i hope that helps..

There is no such thing as reciprocity. What you are looking for is called "licensure by endorsement". You do not need prior experience, you just need to include a letter stating why you don't have any.

by the way, i know most of us are stucked in this "retrogression" thing, do you think will it be beneficial now to renew license or apply with other state, so atleast if the other one expires, still you hold a valid license? thanks again.

Yes, you can do that but no sense in endorsing ASAP as some are doing as there would be always a chance that the one you have endorsed to may end up expiring at the same time as the original State and maybe even earlier.

Example would be in the case of CA BRN where 3 years is given and some States would just be 2 years or less. Add in the fact that CA BRN also is willing to extend the deadline by another a year upon formal request accompanied by a reasonable explanation such as retrogression or immigration problems.

I have a question again, hope you dont mind lawrence, ok here's my hypothetical question, let's say my PD becomes current (but we all know its impossible to happen now :lol2:) and my license is expired, and can't renew because i dont have SSN, would be a big big problem with the embassy? thanks.

It depends on which state actually issued a license to you in the first place. If you went thru CA, then a license is not issued and only the letter. You would just have to go thru the process with another state before your letter expires and go for a state that issues a license without the SSN#.

Would not do anything at this time until you have six months out on the letter, or you are going to be paying for the license for VT that has an expiration date of two years max from the time that it is issued.
