Saunders is a great book, but I know a few people who've failed the NCLEX while using it. Like any review book it depends how you make use of it. Do you review once a week or twice a day? How thorough are you with the review? Many factors come into play with the pass/fail statistics of particular NCLEX review books.
I do know many people have passed using the online review that the NCSBN has...after all they are the people who make up the NCLEX test. The website is http://www.ncsbn.org Click on NCSBN Learning Extension. You can get a 3, 7 or 15 week subscription to their online review and the prices are $49, $89, and $159, respectively. If you decide to do it make sure to select NCLEX RN review as they have an LPN one too.
thanks nemhain...i try to study at least 3-4 times a week maybe 2-3 hours a day... plus im attending a review class and we are using saunders... i had to ask cuz most of the nurses on this forum who used saunders passed... thanks again!!:)

There is no way to know the stats on that. So far this year there have been over 130,000 examinees for the NCLEX-RN. Data aren't collected on their study methods, so there's no way to know the success rate of Saunders.
I think she means informal stats...for instance, out of my pool of friends I've noticed that more people tend to pass using the online NCSBN review than any review book. However, concerning just the review books, I know more people who've attributed their passing to using Saunders than any other book (but I still know a few who've failed).
...it would be nice though, if people who take the NCLEX were asked which review book/method they used and how frequently they used it. That would be helpful!

Everyone that I have helped has passed, and hopefully they have been using Saunders as that is all that I recommend. Theei rationales are the best..............have found too many errors with the others.
But again, it also depends on how you are using the book, the number of questions per day, rationales, etc.

Do you recommend starting with the CD or just doing the book first or doing them both together? Thanks for your recommendation, I graduate in Dec. and I plan on passing the first time around I have even went on a two month vacation from my job that starts a week before my pinning.

Saunders comprehensive review is great! I passed first time with 75 questions by basically just reviewing and doing questions in the saunders review book. I also read the rationales. I recommend this book!
If you have just recently graduated, I would use the book only for a review as to areas that you feel that you are weak in. Concentrate on doing questions and reviewing the rationale that comes with each answer, both the correct choices, as well as the incorrect choices. This helps you see what the exam is looking for in terms of answers.
Do not do more than 100 per day....by the time you add in reading the rationale for each, you have put in plenty of time. Your brain doesn't retain more than that. The ones that do only 100 questions per day have a better chance of passing..............
