Anyone who is already in MCC program

I was wondering if anyone is using the skyscape nursing software and what your opinion is about it? I am starting in a month and had heard about it. If you use it, how did you hear about it? Did a teacher recommend it? Any advice would be great!! :D

Thanks

I have the free skyscape drug program for my iphone but honestly I find myself using the Davis drug guide hardcopy more than my phone during clinical. I would love to have the whole skyscape program but I just don't know how much I would use it. I am in med/surg 1 at MCC if thats any help. Maybe I will need more programs later on but not for now.

Thanks for the info, I thought that it might be easier to carry around a pda or ipod touch instead of a big book :) I was wondering what else the program is used for.

I only invested in the Davis drug guide, not the whole skyscape package. It would have been nice to have the Tabers dictionary ever so often, but I got by without it. I downloaded the free Epocrates drug guide from that website and found it had some drugs listed/updated that Davis did not. I liked having the pda instead of lugging a book around, but it doesn't always have the side effects or implications your instructor might ask. But like I said, I got by with what I had and graduated recently :nurse:!

Congratulations on graduating!! :yeah:and thanks for the info!!

I use a pda with Davis drug book and Taber's medical dictionary. I actually bought the whole skyscape package but do not use most of it and think I wasted my money. If I were you I would go with just the drug book, and the Taber's is nice to have. You don't really need the lab software- just print up a one page list of all the normal labs and attach it to your clip board. I have never had a problem like previous posters where my software is missing data. side effects or anything. Maybe his/her instructor was really picky? I love that the pda slips easily into my pocket and I do not have to lug a book around. There's not always a place to put your stuff at clinical sites, and sometimes you pretty much have to carry everything. Plus on downtime you can check your email etc if you don't have a fancy phone.

Some people use the free epocrates software but I found it annoying. Everytime I opened it it wanted to update and such...i don't have time for that!

I got my PDA right before the whole iTouch thing but if I had to do it again I would go itouch since it is a lot more fun!
