Any RN's....can I have some help here???

Gee, Debbie, don't think I'll be much help since I am not familiar with online classes. Will you be studying other subjects besides nursing, like nutrition or psychology? I never realized you didn't get a list of recommended books for online classes.

How about a good patient assessment text, like the Bates book? I'm not much help, but wishing you lots of luck in your studies :)

I never got a list of books....just a list of classes. The Classes(non-nursing) come in folders with the required info , study guides, and test q & a. so no books needed there(this includes nutrition, anatomy, english, psych, and so on). Then is where the nursing part comes in. They do not tell me the books, but luckily I am an LPN, so I kinda know what to expect....

Gosh, lucky you're an LPN is right. Seems to be asking a lot to decide what books you need without guidance.

Maybe a basic text like Gray's anatomy, a general nutrition book and a general psych book..try Amazon.com and look for nursing texts..hard to believe they expect you to complete the courses with no books!

I second what weetziebat said - the Bates physical assessment book is quite good, IMHO. In addition to the drug handbook, I can't live without my IV drug book.

I am very surprised that they don't have a list of recommended books. Is there anyway you can call these people and ask them what books are required?

I suppose it might also depend on what you're all taking - whether you need OB, peds, EKG, etc.

In LPN school, one of us would find an incredible book to use and let the others know about it. What books not on the list did everyone find helpful for passing the NCLEX? I need something simple to study, due to my reading comprehension. I appreciate all the insights so far, and I found a lot of gret deals at Amazon.com. Keep them coming!!!!

I didn't study for the NCLEX, so I can't really help you there, but I've seen alot of activity on other threads about this topic. You might want to try a search.

Those you listed are fine. But i dont see any texts that have abnormal conditions. How about a med/surg book. Try Medical Surgical Nursing-Critical Thinking in Client Care/Lemone&Burke or a similar book.

I went to http://www.college-net.com/nursing. I am an LPN going on for my BSN. It is an excellent program, and it is very easy with the study guides they set you up with.

Hi! Well first off, good luck to you! Let me just be honest... An online program may be the most convienent route, however, remember that even when you complete the program you still have to sit for the NCLEX... So, if I were you, I would pick up the newest edition of a med surg book, a new edition Psych book, and a pharmacology book. I would use these books as a guidance to whatever topics you are discussing. Also, utilize the internet. It is helpful to gain knowledge from more than one source. Also, if you are a real over acheiver, purchase an updated NCLEX review cd-rom and do like 25-50 questions on your topic of study. Hope I was a lil' helpful!!!
