Any GCC Students?

Just found out Tuesday I am starting Nursing School in January at GCC. I have been going there for 3 years getting my pre req's out of the way and finally starting Nursing School. How do we find out our class schedule?

Never too early to find study groups

I got in at Phoenix College to start in Jan. 06'. I'm guessing you'll get an info packet just like I did. It includes the proposed schedule and lots of other great info. There's also a mandatory orientation being held before classes start. I've heard that this is where you set up carpools and the like.

Congrats on getting in. Keep us posted on how things go for you!

I got in at GCC too, last Tuesday. I was told by the office we'd get our registration packages FRi or Sat, I didn't get mine yesterday so I'm assuming it will come today.

Did you get into the full time or part time program? I'm in the part time program, and I've never taken a class at GCC, so it will be all new for me.

Congratulations on getting in!!

I got in on Tuesday as well. Do you know if all the spots that opened on Tuesday were for Part Time? I wanted Full Time. Glendale messed up my records and said they never rec'd transcripts. So i wasn't included in the original run. Hopefully we will get the packets today.... maybe we are going to be classmates haha

I got accepted into the nursing program at gcc for spring 2006. i still have not received anything in the mail. I am starting to get nervous. Did anyone else get their packet in the mail?

Angie123,

Did you get accepted into the p/t or f/t class? Did you just get accepted or did you in the first run? I was told that the packets would be mailed out WEd and we'd receive them Fri or Sat. Well here it is Sat and no package, go figure. Hopefully by Monday we'll get them.

Calzonon,

I got accepted into the full-time program. I applied during the summer of 2005 and found out I got accepted during the first week of them choosing students for spring 2006. Yha, I checked my mail and did not receive anything. Which program are you in FT/PT? I am so scared to start that nursing program since I don't know what to except. But then agian I got through BIO201 and BIO202 in the summer so I think I can handle it.:)

OMG Angie you had a rough summer too! I took Pathophysiology and Microbiology over this past summer. I just found out that they dropped a bunch of stuff off the pre req curic. Is that True????

Well talk to you all laters!!

Mandy :D

I think this is just par for the course for the entire Maricopa nursing program, but then again, my friend did get hers from MCC pretty quickly. What makes me mad is I offered to pick it up when I was in that area on Friday and the lady sort of laughed at me and said don't worry you'll get it Friday or Saturday in the mail. Uh...what day is it today? Saturday. Did I get my packet? Nope. Maybe they'll let you pick yours up on Tuesday, but she said she's sending the packets registered mail and you have to sign for them so she knows who got one and who didn't (?). I'm pretty bummed too, I was stalking my mailbox and I NEVER do that, lolol. Sometimes it's so full I swear the postlady is Houdini being able to get that stuff in there!!

I took Bio202 this summer also, ugghhh. Right now I'm taking Patho and FON and I've heard that they're going to start incorporating both of those classes (plus CNA) this spring. I sure hope not. I love Patho, but I don't want to do my CNA class over and FON is a real :angryfire at least with my teacher it is.

Too bad you guys won't be in my p/t class. There's a girl in my patho class who is in the traditional GCC class this spring, she's really nice.

Hey I dont know what class I am in yet LOL we just might see each other. I know they wont let me pick up the packet GOD FORBID but I am going in to find out what program i was placed in pt or ft . The nursing advisor over there NEVER answers her phone and NEVER returns messages....really frustrating. I took the CNA class at PVCC and I LOVED THE ADVISOR there. Norma Chandler is her name, I just wish that she could be the advisor at GCC or that i could have gotten in over there.:)

Calzonan,

Do you know if the students who start the nursing program in Spring 2006 would be effected with the co-req changes? I thought that we wouldn't. Yha, I am going to go over to the nursing department tomorrw. So well see what happens. Do you kniw by chance how much the books cost for block 1? I really hope too that we don't have to take those classes over. The only thing I haven't taken yet is patho.

I've heard the books are anywhere from 500-$800, I can't remember exactly. You don't have to buy much for block 2, because you use a lot of the same ones. If you go to that website I sent you you can check your school that you were placed into.

I was told a while back that CNA, patho and FON were going to be incorporated into the Fall '06 program but a friend of mine who is at GCC right now told me that her teacher was told to start teaching that stuff in Jan. I've taken all the classes and I really don't want to 'waste' time going back over it. I know it's always great to have more education etc., but it's still time away from my family repeating classes I've already taken, YKWIM? All this and if we have to buy the books too...I just hope it's one of those rumors that doesn't amount to much. When you're at the school today ask about it. I'm hoping to get my packet today so I can register tomorrow.
