Any chiropractors in the WGU program?

Published

Hello ,

I am a chiropractor in the initial phases of applying to the pre-nursing WGU program in Indiana. My transcripts have been recently evaluated and Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, and Microbiology were found to be lacking. I have taken these courses as part of the module system at the National University of Health Sciences, so they do not appear as individual classes.

I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and how would you suggest I proceed? I can CLEP out of the courses, but I'd rather not since I have taken the courses and even taught Anatomy, Physiology, and Microbiology at a Junior College since graduating chiro school.

Thanks for your help.

They should have given you some sort of instructions about appealing - mine said to contact my enrollment counselor. You'll probably have to submit some sort of official course information from the classes you took.

Keep in mind that, with WGU's model, classes you've taken before (and especially classes you've taught!) should be quick and easy. It's not like you have to spend a full semester taking the class again - if it's a class that just requires a test, you could literally finish it within a few hours.

I agree. I was able to complete WGU's biochemistry course in three weeks, and their nutrition class took a little less than two weeks.

You can fly right through the course and accelerate if you're already familiar with the subject.

They will let you take biochemistry within the program, but A&P and Micro are required to be done before starting the prelicensure program. The rules are a little different for prelicensure than the RN to BSN. I had to retake both A&P and Micro because my classes were too old. I took A&P through straighterline. (I think they also offer microbiology now too, but you'd have to check with WGU if they take straighterline for that. I know they took A&P.) I am not sure how appealing it would work, but straighterline was a pretty fast way to get credits for those classes.

Thanks for your replies. It's good to know I can speedily retake or test out of the courses.

I set a meeting with my enrollment counselor, so I'll see what the next step is.

I know this post is a little dated but what was the end result?
