:banghead: Met again with the BON yesterday, I thought this was to re-sign a new contract to go back to work. No this was just to meet my case worker and review paperwork. Next Tues. 12/23 I am going into the hospital to have a ventral hernia repair. I would have had this fixed if we had had insurance all this time being off and unable to work. Now I have to get thru this, off medication again and then write a letter, my counselor write a letter and find a sponsor to write a letter. No, I have not found anyone at the meetings that has had enough clean time to even be a sponsor....Sorry about the rant, I am so frustrated and mad at myself at this moment.:angryfire If I do not go back to work soon we will loose everything, my husband is an OTR truck driver and is not getting miles to make a paycheck these days. My case worker told me this will all be over soon and becomes routine...but I feel like I am living groundhog day over and over..I am scared to death about going back on pain meds next week and all the paperwork that is going to be done. Thanks for listening.

Power, you'd better find some more meetings. There HAS to be someone out there with enough time to sponsor you.

And this is where toughing it out comes in - you don't take the pain meds.

Get a job, any job, for the time being. Walmart. 7-11. It doesn't matter. I've done everything from manage people in 6 figure jobs to later cutting fabric at JoAnn's.

Get a job. No work is demeaning.

Good luck, honey. Stay close.

if this is elective sugery, could you not just postpone it for a while?

I wish you well in your upcoming surgery. Just hang in there, and go to different meetings, there has to be someone out there, like sues says. I'm not sure what size town you're in, but I know that even in a small town, there is not just one aa meeting/time/day. Usually they have them twice a day and then there'll be the na meetings also. Even in small towns like the one I lived in before.

When I first started going, I went to aa because it was twice a day and I could chose which one I wanted to go to. The NA was only twice a week. The people in aa in this particular daytime group chastized me for not being an alcoholic, like I was not good enough to be there. They said 'druggies' didn't belong there and I shouldn't be there. But, because i needed to go EVERYDAY, I went to the 8pm meeting and got a whole different feel. Just try and you will find a person that will sponsor you. For the most part, these sober aa members WANT to be sponsors because it reminds them of why they are sober and they don't want to go back there.

Just like me, I am a peer assistance advocate. Doing this really helps me continue my sobriety. YOu'll find one, just keep trying.
