Nursing Students Excelsior

Published

Hello-

I have been with Excelsior for several years now. And have just recently got on track to start taking the exams. Unfortunately, my A&P and Micro are now to old, and must be retaken. Please someone tell me whats the best way to meet this requirement? I've seen so many different ways. I'd like to save money and such. Is it to just go through Excelsior? Or have people had better luck with other options?

Thanks in advance!

I believe the A&P and Micro are considered 'core' classes and have to be taken through excelsior. But, if you've already taken them once like I did, you should only have to review and take the exams - I got A's in both and used studygroup101 & older books from amazon.

They can be taken anywhere but if you're already with EC, you must get their approval first. I did EC's exams because they didn't have a lab component. However. If you plan to go further than the ASN, not all colleges with accept those sciences without a lab component. Fortunately, EC does offer higher degrees, too. So, talk to hur ad or and tell them where you are planning to take the two courses from and they will let you know whether or not it meets their course content as far as covering all body systems. Like the other poster said, though, you've had it before so it should be just a review for you.

Glad I'm not in your shoes! I don't wish A&P and micro on anyone! Of course, I'm as far from being a science and math person as they come.

I am starting the EC process and have to take A&P and Micro. I plan to take both through EC. Does anyone have any suggestions on which is best to take first? This will be my first exam with EC and I am anxious to get started. Just wondering if one will assist with the knowledge of the other. Thank you.

Both were equally as difficult for me because I hate any kind of biology or science. In the CC in my state, A&P was required before Micro. That's why I chose the A&P exam first when I did the ASN with EC. Lots of students on this site chose to do micro first and were successful. So, I'm guessing there really is preference. I would suggest glancing over the content info to see if one is more appealing over the other in your eyes and decide from there. Might not help but it definitely can't hurt.

Thank you for the suggestion. I have taken ANP in the past, but it was too old. I'm leaning toward taking it first because it may mostly be review. I have not taken micro so it would be entirely new content. I will take your advise and read over the study materials to get a better idea. Thank you again!
