Am I setting myself up for failure?

Published

Hi im new to this and nursing school. Its my first year. I have a part time job, two children (6 month old and a 2 year old) and a supportivish hubby who has his days where he lets me study and other times tells me i shouldnt be studying at such and such time bc he doesnt think its the best time to do it. I have not passed either of my nursing exams. I didnt completely fail them i missed by 2-3 points on each but it is very frustrating trying to get used to all of this. Any advice? time management, inspiration? anything :( I dont want to lose hope I've always wanted to be a nurse esp want to do so for my children.

You are beyond "setting yourself up" if you've already failed your first two exams. Why are you on the internet instead of studying right now? It only gets harder. Form good habits.

Good luck to you.

im doing my care plan right now i have clinical in the morning. I understand that it gets harder but i need advice on how to form good habits and good study skills. Thanks anyway

Good study habits still require a lot of time. I say this as a "good student". I do school well and tend to pass all of my tests. I am a good test taker and "naturally smart".

In spite of all of that, I think I put in about 30 hrs/wk on homework and studying.

I'm sorry that your husband doesn't understand.

I've always gotten good grades and have been in national honors society. Thats why i just feel like im crumbling now. :( I guess all I can do is try my best and keep pushing.

You could consider telling your husband that studying is your priority and his opinion on the "correct time" doesn't matter.

haha im with you on that. I think instead of comming straight home after school ill study at school then go to work and he can drop the kids off. I just feel that he's being a little girl and complaining alot for no reason. im not sure how much more clear I can make it for him that I NEED HELP and am struggling -.-
