All BSN programs in Georgia

Hello everyone! I am currently VERY irritated with the prerequisites of all the nursing programs I have been looking at. For example, clayton state is completely normal besides requiring pathophysiology (a nursing course), which is the one requirement I don't meet. West Georgia was perfect besides all of a sudden slapping a required CNA certification starting this year.. I really need help finding out if there are any good nursing programs around the Atlanta/Marietta area that don't have random monkey wrenches. I have a 3.7 GPA and an 82 TEAS V score, so I believe that I would be able to be accepted if only I could find a place that didn't have such a random requirement! You have no idea how much I will appreciate any help in this area I can get! God bless!

Pathophysiology isn't a nursing course. It's a standard pre-req at many colleges, including the one I'm at. Not only that, but it is a very important course that SHOULD be required, because it teaches you the workings and pathology of the human body, something that is obviously vital to nursing.

The CNA certification is also often seen at different schools, and isn't uncommon. School's that require this are doing it so that potential applicants have at least a shred of experience in the health care field. Not every school requires it, but it's not an uncommon (or unreasonable) requirement.

These aren't "random" requirements. They're actually pretty standard.

Georgia State, UGA, KSU, Emory, Mercer? None of those schools have the "random" requirements you listed.

l understand. Emory and Brenau don't require much but they are private so you have to consider the cost. Mercer requires a little bit more but they will work with you. My observation is that the private schools prerequisites and requirements are not as overwhelming as the public schools. I have just limited myself to a few schools because if I don't I will spend years taking prerequisites.

Ga State, UGA, and KSU are all reasonably priced and their prereqs aren't too crazy.

I go to Georgia State University. We require pathophysiology, but not until you've been accepted to the nursing program. For the traditional track, you take bio/chem/or physics + labs, microbiology + lab, statistics, college algebra, English 1 and 2, and anatomy 1 and 2. It's pretty standard, and tuition here is cheaper than the other 2 colleges I attended.

Pretty certain you only have to take Stats if you're applying to ACE. Pretty much every other traditional program requires it though, so I imagine most GSU apps already have it.

The school I am currently at a university that also follows those requirements. Pathophysiology is something you need once you're in the program, I didn't know other schools required it beforehand since all the "good" ones don't seem to. But I know how competitive GA state is I would love to be accepted but they seem to demand perfection lol. Thank you for your help!

Honestly, they're not as competitive as some other states. There are plenty of people getting accepted to BSN programs with lower GPAs than yours, so I would try to stay positive!

Georgia Health Sciences University, Georgia State and Georgia Southern are some good ones!
