Air Force - Boards

Does anyone know how long it takes for an answer, once your paperwork goes to the boards????????????????:wink2:

Hello,

I wondered the same thing. I submitted my package earlier this month. So far, I have been told that the board is finding an assignment. I am either going for ER or Med-Surg NTP. Are you going for NTP or a specific area of nursing??:nuke:

I am going as general (clinic or med surg). They first told me to shoot for jan class, but since, my packet was just sent off it will likely be Mar 2009.

I hope it doesn't take too long.................

Anywhere from 4 to 6 months. Not accounting for holidays.

Do you mean 4 to 6 months for the boards???????????? I have heard 4 weeks before but, never 4 to 6 months??????????

May packet was sent to the board in December and I didn't hear anything until March. Holidays played a part in that and then the January board was canceled. I didn't have waivers or anything so I'm not sure what took so long. I hope you get an answer sooner rather than later.

wow! thats a long time. Just out of curiousity did the AF finally get money for bonus or loans. I know a few of us heard from recruiters they didn't have any money but I know october is the new fiscal year.

I am assuming b/c before my packet went out Nov 13, i signed for the loan and bonus. loan 38,000, bonus 25,000.

thats great news cat

Hello Little Greek,

I noticed that you have already gone through COT. I just found out that I my pacakage was accepted for ER RN and I will be going to COT on March 10. My question is did you have to pay for all of your uniform items out of pocket or did you start getting paid during COT. In other words, will I have to save up in order to pay for my items and how much did you have to spend for your items.

Thanks SRM:wink2:

Hey SRM

When did your package go in, and how long did it take to hear an answer?

Thanks

Congrats on your acceptance!

I had to pay for uniforms before I started getting paid. I used my credit card to pay for them. Some people applied for the Star Card (a credit card through AAFES with low introductory interest) and used that to buy the items they needed. I only spent about $800 on uniforms at COT, but now that I'm at my base I've had to spend more because I only bought the bare minimum. In hindsight, I would have bought everything I needed there because they are fully stocked and most items were available.

As for getting paid. You will begin getting paid at COT but it takes some time before you do. I think I got paid toward the end of my time there. There were many people that had difficulty with their pay and that took some time and patience to work out. Make sure you have enough money going in to COT just in case you have pay issues in the beginning.

Thank you!!!!:nurse:
