Hope this posts finds you all healthy, happy and sober! :) I have been applying for jobs now for a few months with a lot of let downs. well, a couple of weeks I decided to apply at a LTC facility that a fellow IPN nurse works at. the DON hired me for the unit manager position pending on the AHCA (agency for healthcare administration/florida) results. this agency does all background screening, fingerprint results with federal and FBI, etc..... as some of you may know, for LTC employment you have to pass a level II background. I went to the AHCA website and one of the disqualifying convictions is domestic battery. back in 2002 I was in a very unhealthy relationship. we had gotten into a heated argument (no violence or physical assault) and I called 911 to have him removed from my apartment. well, the police show up and arrest both of us. I got a lawyer and the domestic battery charge was disposed in court as Nolle Prosquei: ( Nolle prosequi is a fancy latin term used in the legal context to describe a resolution of a criminal matter where the prosecution declines to prosecute. In other words, the charges are, for all practical purposes, "thrown out" when they are nolle'd.) BUT, it's still on my record.....
whew.... My question is this for anyone with LTC experience or anyone who knows ( I know this is not a legal advice forum, just want to know of anyone's experience or knowledge) WILL THIS PREVENT ME FROM BEING QUALIFIED TO WORK IN A LTC FACILITY?
thanks y'all for any info!! love ya and stay clean and sober!! xoxoxoxoxoxoxox
