Affinity- Please Activate Account

Whoo Hoo! After 5 years of checking into Affinity, I received the most beautiful message today “Please Activate Your Account”! It’s over..I’m DONE! My KARE case manager emailed a copy of my discharge today so I could see it instead of waiting on the mail. The KY BON website now lists me as active to practice in all compact states. I’m officially free!

My last test was 20 days ago...I was halfway expecting a test this morning...but instead, I was wonderfully locked out of my Affinity account.

Yes- a huge weight lifted off my shoulders. The first thing I did was delete my 5am alarm ?

Yep, when I got that on my last day, I kept going back over and over just to see that activate account.

I was told (via phone call) on a Friday that I was done and no longer had to check in. However since I had not received the written confirmation yet (email or snail mail) and Seeing as how I had a negative level of trust in these people, having been lied to so much, come Monday, I tried to check in and I actually could. It took them over 2 weeks to actually deactivate the account. It showed ‘missed check in’ for about 5 days. Can’t say I’m surprised. Those people don’t care how much stress is caused or how important it is to us that made it through the gauntlet, or how little we believe anything most of them say.

Congratulations!

For anyone that’s just beginning their journey- you may feel hopeless, or you may feel determined. You may think the journey seems impossible—It’s not! You can do this! I remember starting KARE, looking at the employment restrictions, calculating the costs & wondering how I was going to do it. 5 years seemed insurmountable. Guys...it can be done. And others have done this before us. It’s ONE day at a time. Don’t think 5 years, just think TOMORROW!

Face fears head on, tamper down your frustrations, follow the rules as laid out. Check- in daily, give them your pee, prove to them (and, more importantly, to yourself) that you are active in Recovery. (That’s, if applicable. I know some of you guys are in for other reasons...).

And one day your Affinity (or First Lab, etc.) account WILL be inactivated because you are DONE! It’s such a freeing feeling.

I’m a “graduate” and I’m still here on the site for everyone else active in their program.

I know, Mississippi! I’ve been following your journey. I actually thought about you on your “Settlement Day” before you even posted that morning. I’m cheering for you! You’ve been in recovery a long time. Now you just gotta prove it to the Mississippi BON. ? ???
