Anybody else going to the April 5th 2011 NTP boards for selection? Anybody already selected and waiting to go to COT? Im wondering, if selected in this board, how long before I would go to COT??

I am an alternate from the fully qualified November board and still awaiting assignment and COT date. My recruiter tells me he will have more info later this month if Congress can ever hammer out the budget. He tells me that the Air Force does not have an approved number of new nurse accessions yet for 2012 and will hopefully get this information later this month. It is encouraging to me that they are actually having an NTP board this year. Best wishes for selection!

When I had my interview a couple of weeks ago I was told that it's more than likely that those of us who are accepted would be looking at a COT date which would be as late as Spring or Summer of 2012. Lets keep our fingers crossed! Post any information you might find out and check for new information here as I'm sure any of us who have been playing this musical boards game will post as soon as something happens. :o

My recruiter just sent in my application last week for the 2011 boards. My interview with the Chief Nurse was very good and she basically said that if I don't get in, then she doesn't know what they are looking for. But, with all the stuff I am reading on the forums and hearing, it makes me really worried. I put all my eggs into this basket, and I am not pursuing any job offers because I am waiting for this. I was told that we should find out by 29 April if we get in. The wait is long, and for some reason more nerve wrecking than waiting for my NCLEX results.

Does anyone know where I can find more information on COT, and NTP?

Are there any other good threads out there that you guys recommend?

Join the OTS forum at http://www.airforceots.com. There is a specific COT section. Some of the posts are several years old but the information is still relevant. Also if you google "Anna's Air Force Adventure" blog, you will find pictures of the OTS campus, the dorm rooms, and a weekly blog about one person's experience. Hope this helps! Best wishes on your selection :)

Thank you very much! Do you know any specifics on how long the whole process takes before I actually get to leave? Do you have any links or references to nurses and COT or NTP?

There's a lot of great and accurate information in these forums on COT and NTP if you do a search for them. The length of the process varies but it's not something that happens quickly. It seems that it can be up to a year or more long process for individuals once they actually get in contact with a recruiter. This website may provide some information on COT for you:

I have also heard that we will find out end of April; and that COT would be sometime next year (2012). I would recommend getting some experience while waiting, since it sounds like it could be awhile! Facebook also has a page for Air Force Nurse Corps, might be helpful.

I was an alternate as of Nov 2010 and just two days ago recieved a COT date for may 31st 2011. Take a job and get experience...I'm an ICU nurse with 3 years exp just to give you an idea of my background.

I just got word yesterday that I was selected as a new grad in the Med-surg, and will be leaving for COT on Oct. 17. and then for NTP on Nov. 28-Feb. 15, and then stationed in Lackland, TX.

Who else out there got selected for Oct. COT?

I thought there was only one board this year for FY12... that is what I was told by my recrutier. I am trying to get my application soon for end of June. Also, I was told I could submit my application without having the Chief Nurse interview - and I have two weeks after submission to get the interview done... is this in a regulation? Doesn't make sense to me since it is important piece. Anyone have an idea?

I went to the OTS 2007 Mar class. The 1st week was horriable, but everybody survived. Now I really enjoy my nursing career in AF.
