Aug 7, 20178 yr Hello, I am an active duty army. Currently a 68Q pharmacy specialist.I'm thinking to change my career path to nursing. If I switch to 68C will there be service obligation as 68C?For example if I finish 68C course will I be able to apply to any commissioning program right away? or are there few years before I can get to that.Thank you
Aug 8, 20178 yr Admin Moved to Government/Military Nursing, hopefully someone here will be able to answer your questions.
Aug 8, 20178 yr A 68C is an enlisted MOS so no you will not get a commission. If you are talking about going the ACEP route you will earn your BSN then become a 2LT. There is an ADSO for using the ACEP program.
Aug 8, 20178 yr Moderator 68C = LPN/LVN = enlisted MOS66H = med/surg RN = officer AOC (requires BSN degree)
Aug 8, 20178 yr Author I am sorry I should have made it more clear.I am debating which route to start my nursing career.I have option to reclass to 68C which is an year long vs AECP to become a BSN which is 2 years.I meet all the requirements for 68C and can submit my paper works and guaranteed to go school.Whereas AECP I still have few pre-req needs to be completed also it is not a guaranteed after I apply. What I am trying figure out is if there is any MOS obligation as 68C, if there isn't might as well go 68C and do AECP feel like this way I am not risking wasting years waiting to get picked up also I will have experience as a nurse.
