Advice on 1st assignment

I have recently begun my 1st travel assignment. It started last Thursday with a 2 day computer orientation. Next was supposed to be a 2 day unit orientation/shadowing before I start. Well I've been contacting my recruiter all week regarding when my unit orientation will be and when I will have a schedule. She keeps saying the account manager is arranging it but it is now Thursday, I haven't worked all week, and I don't have any information about my schedule or orientation. Is it common for things to start a little slowly or is this unusual?

    No. Call your unit manager and HR now.

    At this point you should have maybe at least met your manager? Do you have his/her contact information? I would call that person; they usually set up your floor orientation for you.
