I'm so excited to see all the enthusiasum! I am starting third semester in the fall and still can't believe that my name is on print. I finished in Dec with my LPN and passed the boards in Feb. I am of course working long term care, but I truely love it. Congratulations to all of you. It's hard, I went back to school after 30 years. I finished this last year wiith a 3.64 GPA. I hope to continue with the same dedication as last year. Keep up the posts I think this is a great forum and use it often. Especially with care plans, lots of great input!

Hey everyone! I just graduated in May with a bachelor's in English and history, but I decided almost immediately after graduation that I wanted to go to nursing school. I applied to another college in my city that has an ADN program. Because of the degree I already have, I've taken all of the pre-req classes that take up the first semester of the program (except for psychology, which I'm CLEPing). I got my acceptance letter a few days ago into the program-at-large, but there was a secondary application to fill out to start the actual nursing part. So I sent that in and paid for the background check, which was required for the second application, so now I'm just waiting to hear back from that. I really hope I'm chosen to start the nursing sequence for the fall, I don't know how limited the space is or how competitive, etc. Orientation for the program-at-large is August 9, and that's when we'll register for classes, but I guess if I get into the nursing sequence I'll hear back more and maybe there will be a separate orientation? I don't really know what to expect... I'm excited though, and hoping I'll get to start in the Fall!

Well today, my career as a nursing student is final. I am registered for my first nursing class! I am really excited. But anyway, today was ok. We meet with one of the counselor's at our school about stress management and one of our instructors showed us a way to do dosage calculations. I really like her way better, less confusing. She told us that we will be having a quiz on conversion factors. Until tomorrow...

I'm nervous, scared, anxious, depressed yet excited, and all around stressed out....but in some kind of good way...

I just had orientation last friday and it scared me even more...in the next month i have to spend lots of money on a uniform (150$ for 1 set) plus a stethoscope, shoes, and all the other special stuff, plus i have to get my hepatitis B set (50$ a shot) Menningococcal vaccine (125$) physical (50$ or so) my books are around 600$ and I need to get Care plan books, and paper, pencils, pens, highlighters, binders, and a tablet....ughh.....all by september 1st...geesh...

and this whole idea of "pre-planning" is freaking me out...

You just need to take a breath. Then break it down into weeks. I will seem a little managable then

Gamergirl, this is the place to vent. I hope everything works out. For me I joined a gym and its been a life saver, and a miracle!!

Thanks guys..i am pretty scared...wondering if i'll be able to do it, the big change from college to "nursing school" is scary, plus i'm known to procrastinate, and have breakdowns, plus I HAVE to work while going to school, as my school is 40 minutes away, my clinicals can be up to 1.5 hours away and gas prices just are not dropping enough...my loans are going to help tremendously, and next year i'm going to try to find a nurse extern position to have better options of work hours (being able to work nights for instance) and since I am married and we are living with my parents until i graduate, i don't have children (but my 6 pets can be included as they are just as needy (8 year old rotty with hip dysplasia/arthritis and taking tons of meds isn't helping much)

so basically i'll have time, but if i don't work, we won't have the money....kind of a paradox that i'm hoping doesn't turn out for the worse...I'm just scared and rightfully so..its not going to be easy..

If i had time to join a gym i would! lol....i have a stationary bike at home, and i take Toto (my little cairn) on walks daily, thats about as much time for exercise as i have. but i hope everything works out too..

CT is right. Vent and get it out. I know its hard. I am freaking out in my own mind. I am so excited about it that I don't let myself think about the money side lol. I guess that's why I am working as many hours as I can now so that I will have a little cushion. (based upon my prayers and awesome grades that I have enough grant/scholarship money to cover everything I will need--I know wishful thinking but I think i can manage) Then when school starts I will be working every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday). I have been truly blessed so far and I am praying that I continue. Good luck you guys!

Question: Have you guys received information about your finanical aid yet? My slack school said it will not be until the middle of July to hear about it. And we have to put a deposit of uniforms tomorrow and she wants us to start purchasing books so we can work on some assignments for the rest of the summer. I FUNDS, ASAP. (Now I am freaking out )

All of my financial aid is processed and I know how much I'm getting for my Fall and Spring semesters.

Add me to the list! I have already registered for classes, but other than that, nothing else yet. We have our orientation July 12th. I can't wait! I decided a year and a half ago to go to nursing school, and I can't believe I'll be starting school August 22nd! Ahhhh! :yeah:

Its nice to know Im not the only nurse nerd that cant wait to start nursing school. :lol2: My orientation is in 7 hours and I have yet been to bed. Does that mean Im excited? I agree with folks that says it kinda seems unreal. We

have worked so hard to get here, and now that Im here I hope everything goes smootly.

GOOD LUCK FOLKS! WE GOT THIS!
