ADN army reserves

Published

I would like to join the army reserves but have recently found out via the internet that the army is no longer accepting adn rn's. I am currently in a RN to BSN program but will not be done until Nov,2011. I would like to join now but what are my options if anyone knows because at first I wanted to utilize the army strap program to finish my bsn. As a ADN-RN I cannot join the army reserve is this correct? I am hoping someone can help me understand this. I plan to talk to a medical recruiter on monday. Thanks in advance

You are on the right step talking with a healthcare recruiter. Since you graduate next November now is the time to start the paperwork. It can take several months to complete and often there is issues along the way.

I had pretty much the EXACT same idea. I was going to hit the reserves, take advantage of the STRAP to get my BSN, and then join active duty. As soon as I got my graduation date, I called the recruiter back and he told me that the STRAP was temporarily discontinued for this finitial cycle, and that there are no ASN RN's being accepted at this time.

I am currently in a BSN program, still would like to do military.

I also encourage you to talk to a recruiter. This may change, I plan to call again in a few months.

Good luck to both of us, hrm?

FYI,

There are no ADN, ASN, Diploma RN positions for this FY. The soonest they would bring them back would be for next FY. Recruiters dont normally find out until it has already been passed : ( Good luck to you for next year : )
