ACT Exam

Good day everyone..I have a question for my Alabama nursing school teachers. Can anyone tell me why the Act exam is required to apply and enter into nursing school. In my opinion the ACT exam doesn't have anything to do with nursing, but when I look at the teas test it apply more to nursing school.

Thank you for any feed back!!

ACT is probably the university's requirement- not the nursing program's.

I agree that the ACT or SAT is a general college entry requirement.. but many nursing programs will actually require a higher score than is required for general admission to the college...

You may see for instance if an ACT score of 16 is required for general admission to a local community college - the nursing program may actually require an 18 for consideration to their program.

Thank You again for the comment..yes the CC required an 18 to enter into the nursing program, I personally dont see the purposed..the ACT to me doesn't determine if your going to be a good nurse or not..I know men and women that been nurse for over 20yrs and never took the ACT, but this was back in the day..I think if it have to be a placement exam it should be more relatable to the career like the teas test was.

It's a standardized test covering multiple areas just like the SAT. Most colleges or universities are going to require ACT or SAT to be admitted to the school. The nursing program may have further requirements such as TEAS or Kaplan. The school as a whole is looking at ability in general first.
