Accepted!!

Got my acceptance letter for the LPN/EMT to RN bridge program from Hutchinson CC in KS!! Very excited to be going back. I also got my CNA and LPN through this school and have been very happy with it. Now to figure out how to juggle FT work and FT school for the next year. Kinda intimidated! But it'll be so worth it. :)

@janelane213 I would not worry about your score. From everything I’ve found an 81% overall is a great score. Seems anything in the upper 70’s should be good and 90’s are uncommon. I scored a 78 overall so hope this is true! I do remember applying for my LPN program and thinking my test scores were terrible and then finding out that I was well above the national average. I think the Kaplan May be the same.

Can you pm me a copy of the rubric? I didn’t ask for one and I hate to bother Becky again. Curious how points are awarded.

@JenSande did you score in the 80s as well? i am just nervous, i keep bothering Becky because the anticipation is killing me, we wont know for months.

let me look for it.

@janelane213 I scored a 78 overall. My gut reaction was panic, but again, from everything I’ve read upper 70’s are usually consider good. I can’t promise that holds true at Hutch, but it resembles my experience with the entrance exam for my LPN program.

@JenSande this platform wont let me DM you, i keep receiving an error message. however i can email it? thats good youre not too far from me. you completed your LPN @ hutchinson? are you from Kansas?

@janelane213 I completed my LPN at Johnson County Community College and currently live in Lawrence. Are you a Hutch local? Where did you do your LPN?

My email is [email protected].

@JenSande oh ok so youre from Kansas? im sure youre shoe in, i have a feeling they have a preference for instate students. i am not from Kansas im coming from Los Angeles California. i completed mine at Los Angeles Job Corps in downtown Los Angeles.

i will be sending it in a second

@janelane213 Total 35. I am not sure if there is a preference for KS students or not since there aren’t points awarded for local residency.

Thats awesome, youre definately shoe in! thats a high score.

im sure they prefer instate students as they wouldnt have that much of a problem completing the program.

@JenSande have you heard anything from becky?

do you know when we will notified who gets in? and do you know the average scores? average kaplan score?

@janelane213 I have no idea what the average Kaplan score for Hutch is. I just know everything I’ve found online says upper 70’s is considered solid. Also, considering the cutoff is 69 that seems reasonable, but again, this is all speculation.

I think I heard somewhere that notifications normally come out late October, but I’m not 100% on that. I am sure we’ll have a wait though.

@JenSande oh ok thats good to know, Do you have additional information? Becky mentioned that we would know by sept or so if we are accepted. However, she mentioned this is the first year they’re utilizing the scoring rubric. I want to call and ask more, but I feel at this point I am anxious.
