acceptance to accelerated programs in ON

Hi!

I was just wondering if anyone else was waiting around to find out whether or not they got into an accelerated nursing program in ON? Where did you apply and when do people generally hear back from admissions?

When did they tell you you'd hear from them? I'm applying to Western and U of T!

I'm applying to U of T too! They claim to start handing out acceptances in early April but I've seen on forums that in previous years they've sent offers starting in late March.

Good luck!

I got a conditional offer from Trent last week, but I'm still waiting to hear back from McMaster and York.

Yeah, I also heard that it may be late March.

I'm jealous of the people that are hearing back already!

Do any of you still require prereqs for the program? I'm taking anatomy and phys and hope to finish by April!

I know, the wait is excruciating!

I just finished taking an online physiology course, but am still waiting for the mark to come in before I send the final transcript.. also doing a stats course until June. They said on their website that it "is not uncommon" for people to receive conditional acceptances for unfinished pre-req's - but I've heard it'll affect our chances of being accepted so I hope it's not a big deal! Nervous.

Where did you take your physiology course? I took mine at Athabasca and I hate it! Keep me posted on when you hear from people! I'm pretty nervous, too.

just curious why you hated it?

Hey Daisy,

Here's the thing- the material itself is interesting and I really feel like I am learning a lot. I do not regret taking the course. However, I feel that the course is misrepresented in that you actually need a stronger science background than advertised by Athabasca in order to do well. I hired someone with a Ph.D to help tutor me and she was having trouble with some of the material that has to be covered (particularly the online labs). Another person mentioned someone in medical school was covering the same material in my textbook. It's just very intense, but with a lot of work it's doable. I have no science background whatsoever, so it's probably a lot harder for me than for someone with at least some basis in biology.

Are you planning on taking it?

Not that course, but looking at some others at Athabasca this summer. Thanks, good luck with your admissions.

I am also waiting on two schools, York and University of Toronto. I applied two years ago, and I got accepted into York pretty early, I think it was around late February, UofT was around April, and Western was around March. For those with higher gpa's, I think York sends out acceptances pretty quick.

Did you already have your pre-reqs done when you applied?

Also, if you get into both, where do you think you'll choose?
