Accelerated BSN Alternatives

Dear All,

I am in the process of applying to a handful of second-degree accelerated bsn programs. currently i am finishing up the prereqs (which include classes like develop. psych, soc, microbio, anat, etc.) In an effort to play it safe, I was wondering what other alternatives exist for those who want to get a BSN that are graduating/have graduated with a non-nursing degree?? will most schools that have an accelerated program allow you to apply to their regular nursing program (in other words, just enter a 2-yr BSN program). if so, do you think it looks good/bad to the admissions board if you apply for both? thanks very much for the advice--i need all that i can get.

UNC-Chapel Hill allows second degree students to apply to their 24 month program, but you can't apply for their accelerated program at the same time. Both programs are extremely competitive.

I don't think it looks bad.. our instructors say that some really qualified 2nd degreers choose traditional route.... i know many people apply to both.

Most schools will. I have a BS in Education and am beginning an ASN program this semester. They say that there was 85 admitted to begin this semester and that double that amount applied and the same goes for the BSN and Accelerated BSN program.
