Accelerate online programs

Univ of Wisconsin/Oshkosh. Depends on what state you are from though. Some states can not take the classes. You would have to get on their website and see if your state is approved or not. If it is, then your golden as long as you get accepted!

Hi I was wondering which online programs would allow me to complete my RN-BSN fast or in one semester? I already have a bachelor's degree in psychology and currently in a program obtaining an Associates degree. I have so many credits under my belt so I assume it shouldn't take me too long to obtain my BSN. I've saw some people on the boards finish Chamberlain's RN-BSN program in 3 months.

Don't delude yourself to think that any RN-BSN program is going to let you do this as the wise guys in N.Y. say "one, two, six." All programs, especially the for-profit Chamberlain, will "fluff" you up with dopey required courses to ring up the register.

Schools today more than ever are about the money and the accelerated stuff is a marketing ploy to sell you on an educational cake-walk to easy street BSNery.

I'll let you in on a secret that the schools use to snare a student. It's employs an observational psychology technique "the theory of the sunk investement." Simply put it states that once a person buys into anything that he believes will a good investement, if that expenditure turns out to be a money pit he will continue to poor money into it hoping to salvage the original outlay and his ego. The for-profit scams know about this quirk of human nature and exploit it to loan up the suckers.

So unless that AD you're working on is a ADN, I would steer clear of any accelerated program. Accelerated programs are best undertaken by those folks who are alraedy RNs who know the nursing ropes and are having their tuition paid for by their employers. All others need to start from square one.

I know that's a drag but if you want to be successful with this, know there is no A-train express to where YOU want to go.

It depends on how much time you have to put into it. I was able to complete Ohio University's RN to BSN in around 8 months (end of March to beginning of December) because I worked through it and I doubled up on classes. On average, it seems to be 1-2 years to graduate from Ohio University's RN to BSN program.

Most schools I have seen require X amount of credits in the major and Y amount of credits at the university for any program. I think Ohio University they required 30 credit hours to be taken at Ohio University.

Yeah, no school is going to let you graduate with less than 30 hours of courses from their school, no matter how many degrees or hours you have from other schools. If you want to go fast, WGU's program is self-paced, and I have heard that a few people have done it in 3 months, but that is very rare. It costs the same if you do it in 3 or 6 months, after that I think it charges in 6 months increments.
