What is the best way to evaluate compensation?

Will u clarify the question more and make it more specific...i mean i'm sure ur talking about adequate compensation by the renal buffer system and the resp system....But what exactly is the question.

The pt has compensated if they have a normal pH.

Nene said it. If the pH is normal, then obviously they are compensating. Also, you would expect BOTH PCO2 and HCO3 to not be normal for a person who is compensated.
