(AA) Pre-Nursing....what's after?

Published

Got a question for everyone. I'm about 4 classes from getting my Associate's Degree in Pre-Nursing. What's next? My plan is to go get my BSN so that I can someday be a CRNA.

Thanks for the help

Specializes in Maternity.

apply to some programs! look around at the 4 yr schools near you or that you are willing to transfer to. then, talk with their admissions office or an advisor and ask what steps you need to take to apply for their nursing program.

So once you have a 2-year Pre-Nursing degree you can go into a Nursing program? I just didnt know if you have to then go and do more prereq. before being able to go to Nursing School...sorry...havent talked to an advisor.

Thanks again

it really depends on the requirements of the school that you are applying for.

Schools do have different standards, and requirements for elegibility.

make sure you brush up on math, and some reading so you can be ready for the entrance test,

a good GPA helps!!!

Honestly? I've never heard of an official pre-nursing program. You definitely need to talk to an advisor about what your options are and find out what the prerequisite requirements are at the schools in your area to determine whether you need any other classes.

We have a degree like that at several community colleges in Washington. The AA degree is suppose to "waive" or fulfill the general/core requirements of 4 year Universities that you could transfer too. However (at least here) you still must meet all of the nursing pre-requisites for the Uni you want to attend. Does that make sense?

I would look up the websites of nursing program you want to transfer too and check to see if you've met their requirements. You can also meet with an advisor at your current school, but I would highly recommend you meet with an advsor of the Uni you want to transfer to.

Good luck!!!
