So I officially start NS in 9 days... and well on Friday I purchased all my books, only 10 required... supplies, scrubs and coursepacks...
I spent yesterday going through the course packs and putting them in binders, and putting my supplies together.
OF course I had to read the packs, they contain the assignments, grade and labs and all the good stuff...
Now I was prepared for alot of work and reading, this is going to be my 2nd degree, but oh my goodness, I was not prepared as I thought. I am taking 4 nursing classes this semster plus a micro-bi and the reading list alone between the 4 classes is scary.
I saw the first weeks list and well, I know I said before that I won't pre-read, but I did anyway I read the assigned reading for Nur 1100 and omg, that took so long, plus there are other classes...
Anyways, I was shocked...and a little worried.... so thanks for the vent....ugg... next time you see me I will be buried under the stacks of books.

It is overwhelming, but you need to just take it one day at a time. Stay organized and on top of everything the best you can. You'll make it through and be an RN (or LPN) before you know it:)

Some tips I learned for reading the nursing books: First, look at the chapter outline at the beginning. Then go through the chapter reading each major heading and each subheading. When you go back and read the details, they will stick with you later because your brain already knows what to expect. And if you don't have time to read it all, at least you will have an idea of what to expect in the lecture based on the headings.
