Hey
I am currently finishing my last pre-req and plans to go to nursing school this spring or next fall. I am looking for a job in a medical facility(hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, etc.). I don't have any type of degree yet. I was wondering did anyone know any types of jobs I can get in a medical facility without a degree. I would like to be a cna, but I want to get trained on the job. If I apply for a cna position, do I ask them to train me on the job or do I ask about job training before applying? PLEASE anyone just give me some job positions I could probably apply for without a degree.
Thanks for any ideas

Most places nowadays offer on the job training as a cna as long as you work there for a certain amount of time. You should just call around to local areas and see what they offer.
Good Luck!

Check the local tech schools or community colleges who may offer CNA classes. Some nursing homes will pay for your school if you sign up to work for them.

My hospital you can get hired on as a patient care tech..with no medical background, they will train you to do the duties that they would like you to perform. I would just call around and see what is available.

you can try dietary aides, activity assitants, companions at Long term care facilities...in hospitals we have front desk clerks in each clinic, they learn medical words and how charts are put together, we also have health unit coordinators, admissions, medical records...then of couse the hands on stuff is patient care techs, cna's, and techs.

get your CNA or patient care tech in some hospitals, they draw blood, place foley catheters ect..and they will train you. You can learn a lot walking in a CNA's shoes for the length of school. I started there and worked up. Taught me alot.
THANK YOU all so much. You all have been such a big help to me.
