A&P class for 2 weeks

Nursing Students LPN/LVN Students

Hello to all,

I got accepted into a practical nurse program at an institute, now I'm a month into the program and I just finished fundamental of nursing in ONE month, but we didn't really finish the chapter we did up to chapter 18, and now on to A&P, but we have to finish it in 2 weeks 😐. Now the course is called A&P and medical terminology, but according to them ( professor and director) we don't need to that much A&P! So my question is how much A&P is indeed for LPN school ? I'm really upset that they're trying to cut corner but seems like they don't care how students feel. Another thing is that they give same test .. Like for example my final test was about the same questions I already had answer in previous test in the fundamental nursing class , I'm not sure if that's right or what but please I need some ones advice, thank you .

Specializes in acute care-step down/rehab.

I guess it's really up to your school. I surely hope you can pass the NCLEX with the knowledge that they're giving you. I wish you the best. Hope you get a lot out of your clinical portion.

oh no! that sounds horrible.

I wish you the best and you get the information you need to pass the NCLEX.

I know that's why I'm so concerned, I know the point is to pass the nclex and get my license, but I'm second guessing the school now .

Thanks but I'll see what I can do

Thanks I hope so

Congrats for passing fundamentals!!!

Was A&P a prerequisite for your program? Medical terminology was the only prerequisite for my LVN program. Also, the weekly nursing exams was the final exam with the same questions. One of my instructors allowed us to go over all the weekly exams to review for the final.

Hello thank and you !

Well .. The A&P is part of the program at my school but I thought it was part of nursing overall, I thought that we were going to do a full A&P but apparently not and also they told me pharmacology math is also 2 weeks í ½í¸. The exam was all the same questions as the book and this online program call Evolve . She didn't bother to make new question all same questions which were easy to memorize.

Yes, A&P was a short review class too in my program. Most classes in the LVN programs are fast-track courses. We also used Evolve. Did your program have an entrance exam that involved math and science? What makes all the difference is knowing how you process new material in long term memory.

I know everthing is going so fast but I did very good in fundamentals. Yes there was an entrance exam and we only did math and reading because they said it didn't make sense to take sience portion when they will be teaching us science, so that work for me and I did good too on my entrance exam. What are you taking now ? Or are done with Lpn program ?

That is really good that you scored well in the entrance exam. Remember to continue to review fundamentals even though you are finished with the course. You will see fundamental concepts throughout the program.

While taking A&P right now try to understand the life support system and how organs fail one by one. It will help with the medical surgical course. Keep up the good work. Take advantage to ask questions and learn to appreciate human limitations. You win some and you lose some but you get back up to try again. I finished the course already and working toward RN.

Thanks for advice and good luck in the RN program :cat:
