Anyone work at University Hosptal in Cincy (or any of the major Health Alliance Hospitals)? I'm thinking I might like to move to Cincy after graduation and I'd like to apply for the Heath Alliance Critical Care Internship and work in one of the bigger ICUs. Just looking for info about the hospitals and the area. I've been to Cincy several times and had relatives who used to live in Park Hills, KY, but don't really know all that much about the area and don't know anything about the hospitals.

Any info would be greatly appreciated (especially if you've done that internship or work in any of those ICUs).

I don't live in Cincy, or work there, but I do go to school in Dayton, which is just an hour north. I have clinicals right now at Miami Valley Hospital. It's an excellent place for me to be at right now. Everyone there is so helpful, and really is helping me to learn the core things about being a nurse. I know it's not in Cincy, but it's a great hospital, and not too far away....

I currently work at one of the Health Alliance Hospitals, not in critical care. From what I've heard the internships consist of 4 weeks of classes and 6 months of orientation, but don't quote me.

I did some of my clinicals at University Hospital. I was impressed w/SICU 2:1 ratio, i love surgical anything tho. Neuro ICU was also impressive, just not my thing.

TUH is a level 1 trauma, teaching, and unionized hospital.

I'm up in Dayton too...but...

My husband had surgery to remove an acoustic neruoma down at University in Cincy, and then almost a year later went down to have a hearing implant. It was while I was down there with him the first time that I decided to go into nursing because of what I saw there. When I went back with him when he got the implant, I asked the nurses how they liked it there & every last one of them told me it was the best place to work. They told me that I should try to get on there after I graduate too.

My sister works there as a nurse in psych and absolutely LOVES it. You should give it a try. you might also look into Clinton Memorial Hosp. for trauma

I have been a nurse for 17 years and work at one of the Health Alliance Hospitals, The Christ Hospital. It is definately the best place I have ever worked (and I have worked pretty many places!)

University Hospital has a union for their nurses, unlike any of the other Alliance Hospitals. I don't know what good that does for them, they always have a ton of job openings posted.

I live in Northern Kentucky and drive to Cincinnati to work. It is not a long drive at all and I have to be at work at 5 am, so, no traffic.

Hope all goes well, sorry I can't tell you more about the critical care program at Christ. I don't work in that area.

I am also a current nursing student who lives in Cincy, Ive lived here all my life excpet the 5 years I spent in columbus at Ohio S tate! Im 24 and I live in Ft. Mitchell at the moment which is right near Park Hills! I have worked at Mercy, not as a nurse and at University! I find them to be great hospitals and I really want to work at Childrens!! I know that a few hospitals in this area give pretty hefty sign on bonuses, I know I read that someone else here who posted works at Christ, (forgive me I have forgotten your sn as im typing this post) so maybe she can help me out with this one, I HEARD, not sure but one of my nursing instructors told me that if you sign on Christs cardiac unit for three years they offer you a 30,000$ sign on bonus! I have also heard that the tri health hospitals here are offering to pay 5k on your student loans for two years if you sign on for two years!
