Okay, so I'm a freshman at a small college (around 2,400 students total) and I'm starting my 2nd semester on January 3rd. I'm going for an associates degree in Nursing. I'm supposedly doing my pre-req classes my first year (Fall 2012-Summer 2013) and then my nursing classes start Fall 2013. But since an associates degree is only a 2 year degree, how is it even possible to become a nurse with only ONE YEAR of nursing courses?!??! Because after I graduate, I'm taking the boards to become an RN. Someone please help me make sense of how all this is possible.

What is your graduation date? Is it Spring 2014 or Spring 2015?

So you've been accepted into the nursing program?? This sounds fast....ADN takes two years only after pre-req's have been done as far as I know. I could be wrong!! Good luck to you!!

Your program should also have a detailed curriculum with classes and their descriptions including credits/units per semester/term.

Generally it's 2 years one you're accepted into the actual nursing program.

The program at my CC is 72 ...27 before you really get into the nursing classes and 45 credits in nursing classes. So it technically is more than 2 years...but you still get your AS.

Its the ADN/ASN program itself is 2 years long(4-5 semesters) after all the pre reqs are taken care of and you are accepted.

Exactly. With pre-reqs, it can be more like 3 yrs total. All of nursing school is 2 yrs. Most students spend 1-2 semesters at school before nursing school even begins.

At my school there's a year for LPN then a year for RN, plus pre-reqs, which we are allowed to take during the nursing program, with the exception of A&P 1 and 2, so it's basically 3 years for an ADN.
