Aug 23, 200421 yr and opened my books before school starts. (You know, the old "Don't open the shrinkwrap or you can't return them" thing?)I've been going through my Fundamentals of Nursing concepts book and Techniques workbook. I've already gotten through quite a bit of material.Anyone else trying to get a jump start?Plus, we were sent a letter that we have a math test the first day or two of school. I've been studying like a mad-woman for that also!
Aug 23, 200421 yr My oreintation was on the 5th and the Fundamentals teacher gave us a reading assignment before classes start on the 30th. Chapters 6-14, but I am reading the first 5, too. Also, we got part of the syllabus with what we are covering in the first week; Chapters 15-20 & 29. I am reading those, too, so I'll be on top of things. By the way, what Fundamentals book are you using? Ours is "Fundamentals of Nursing: Concepts, Process, and Practice" by Audrey Berman, Barbara Kozier, Glenora Erb, and Shirlee Snyder, 7th edition. We have a med-math exam on the 5th week. I'm brushing up on my percentages, fractions, multiplication and division. Math isn't my strong suit so I've also been working in the required med-math workbook we were required to buy.
Aug 24, 200421 yr Yeah I did start some reading before the term started, one of the instructors emailed us the first few reading assignments and said be sure to read then said, don't read while on break LOL! Also, we had our math test on the 2nd or 3rd day of class. I actually got a 100%!!!! WOOHOO!!!!
Aug 24, 200421 yr Author That's the Fundamentals series we're using also. There are 3 books - the big one, a Fundamentals Study Guide, and skills book. Between the 3 of them, one could have back problems for life! LOL
Aug 24, 200421 yr That is not the Fundamentals book we use, but when I study I try to use several sources so I did use that book to study for my first exam. I used the info from this website http://wps.prenhall.com/chet_kozier_fundamentals_7/0,7865,763097-,00.htmlI don't know if I am permitted to post a link or not but if you are using that book it may be helpfull. Good Luck in school!
Aug 25, 200421 yr We're not required to get the other two, but I'm thinking about it! :chuckle Heavy indeed. My classes are nicely spread out so there's ample time for me to stay and study so I really wanted to be able to bring the books I wanted without that worry, so I got a rolling backpack. Cute, huh? :) I got it in baby blue and it's a dream to pull along with 5+ books in it! That's the Fundamentals series we're using also.
