Nursing Externs.

Do any of your guys know a good website that I can look at all of the Nursing Externs/ Nursing Intern listings?

I am using FastWeb at the moment and it doesnt give me the option to narrow down my search to "Nursing."

Typically you would have to check each hospital's website for listings.

They are very rare nowadays, even then they tend to be reserved for inhouse staff and even then go fast. I remember the last place I worked the HR manager was complaining that within 1 hr of posting an Extern position on Tele there were over 40 applications....for 1 job, in 1 hour!

The above poster is right. Often externships now aren't even posted; they are mostly open only to current employees who are nursing students.

Externships are posted on University Hospital's and The Cleveland Clinic's websites (both in Cleveland, OH). I know the Cleveland Clinic offers a nurse externship program (where you apply and have an interview with the coordinator) and they also offer a program through Cleveland State University nursing students - they work at The Cleveland Clinic as a unit secretary for a year, then as a PCNA (patient care nursing assistant) their second year and finally as a nurse extern during their third and final year.

One of my friends just got hired as an extern at UH and she was not an employee previously.
