Bilingual RN = more $?

Does anyone know if bilingual nurses get paid more at Denver Health? Or any other metro area hospital? If so, do you know how much?

Thanks! :)

HA-HA, good one! Do you know if they pay more tho?

Good luck finding a job!!!

I'm not sure about more $$, but if you are competing against other applicants it will most likely put you ahead of the game.

I recommended to my bilingual (hispanic) neighbor to apply for an ER admissions clerk job -something she had never considered doing - and she was hired practically on the spot d/t her translating abilitities.

Being multi-lingual is not a 'compensable factor' in my part of the world - does not increase your salary. It may, however be a BFOQ (bona fide occupational qualification) for hiring purposes. For example, many clinics and physician offices may require second language if it their patient population warrants it.

Thanks so much guys! Even if they don't pay more, it'll definitely put me ahead of the pack. :)
