Hello! I will be doing my pediatric clinical rotation this Fall for my FNP program and am trying to find applications for my new I-Touch that will be useful in the clinical setting. It's a bit overwhelming when looking at those available and not having an opportunity to "try them out" before purchase. I did find one that looks good from Skyscape but appears that I would need constant internet connectivity to utilize. Preferable would like to have something that I could also use if I don't have a connection available (have no idea if my clinical sites have wi-fi).

So - I am looking for advice from those that have come before me! Any input and suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I try to navigate the confusing web of mobile technology.

I'm not sure about specific FNP software but I got the constellation package from Skyscape on my iPod touch and I love it. It does not require that you have internet access, it's downloaded right to the device. At least I think "downloaded" is the right way of saying it.

I have a blackberry but love Skyscape too and have a couple of peds programs.

I'm a PNP but I think these would be useful to you as well. I have Epocrates, Skyscape, and Medscape apps on my iphone. The Skyscape app includes Archimedes, OCM, and RxDrugs. These apps were free or very low cost.

I do have Skyscape on my Itouch and I love them as they have great user interface and the quality is awesome. And i think quality does matter for us, correct?

I have tons of software on my PDA. In school I used 5 minute pediatrics and the free epocretes quite a bit along with the free CDC immunization schedule download. Now that I am practicing, I have found the epocretes that you pay for to pretty much cover almost everything I need to look up. I probably could have gotten through school with that alone.

You didn't ask, but I will add anyway that the AAP book that has screeing guidelines and normal development was also great.
