My name is Robert and I am BSN since 2001 in Brazil. Now, I've been lived in the United States and studying to NCLEX-RN exam. But I have some questions, and I would like to know if somebody can help me...

1. I already have all my papers (Visa/Green Card) and actually I don't need apply for a Work Visa. So, how many steps I need do reach to became a RN here? Only CGFNS can validate my diploma, right?

2. All states require English Proficience Test?

3. Anybody knows a Brazilian nurse here in NY? I would like to talk a little bit as well

i'm pretty sure you have to be proficient in english!

brazilian nurse in ny here, i graduate here tho, so to acquire the RN degree is a bit different for me than would be for you. perhaps you should call the NCSBNS at 1866-496-2539 they would be able to tell you what u need.

As a foreign trained nurse and if applying to NY then you have to complete CVS with CGFNS before you submit application to NY BON. You are looking at approx 6-12 months before eligibility to sit NCLEX and then if you pass only a couple of days for a license. Not all states require English exam however for employers they will more than likely like to see a good proficiency in English

I am an american nurse needing to move to brasil for personal reasons. I am an RN with an ASN degree. What steps do I need to take to practice in brasil? I am assuming that there is a nursing test of some kind? If so, what is it called and what organization is in charge of issuing the license? Is my ASN good enough or will I absolutely have to have a BSN? How do I need to prove fluency in Portuguese? Any other advice would be most helpful. Obrigado!

Hi, I am a brazilian educated nurse practing in the USA. I am replying just in case you're still looking for advice.

What you need to do is to go to any Federal University of the state you're moving in, this is the first step. They will evaluate your transcripts, diploma... and say if you're eligible for a license or not. The organization that issue the license is called: Conselho Federal de Enfermagem, each state has their own Conselho Regional de Enfermagem.

They will evaluate your transcripts, diploma... and say if you're eligible for a license or not. I am also Brazilian, just graduated in the associate degree in nursing this year. I took the NCLEX RN exam a couple of months ago and successfully passed. I am currently working as a med/surg tech until I can find a job as an RN. I live in NY, Westchester. Do you know any place in the country where I can maybe be sponsored? I have a bachelor's degree in Business, not sure if this can help me somehow... I'd appreciate if you have any piece of advice!
