Does a Bachelor of Fine Arts count for accelerated BSN prgrams?

Hi - I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree from a 4 year college. I took not just art classes but liberal arts as well - and honors courses in English, literature, speech, etc. I didn't know if this is acceptable or if they're strictly looking for a BS or BA (I realize I have several prerequisites to take as well which I can do at our community college). I've searched several sites and they all say "bachelors in another field" and then on an other place on the site say "BS/BA" - not sure what to make of that. If anyone knows I'd really appreciate it. Thanks! :roll

Most likely...however, be prepared to take a few additional classes.

If you are attending a 2nd degree accelerated program, the BFA typically will count for your general education requirements, but the nursing MAJOR may have additional requirements such as statistics, microbiology, or chemistry. This varies by school.

The best thing to do is to pull up the website of the school you are interested in and pull down the requirements for an accelerated BSN...and see if they have a second degree option, which most of them do.

Contact the school. There are many posters on here who have found that the schools they looked at will not accept BFAs.

My 2nd degree program simply requires a "bachelor's degree," which a BFA is. Definitely check individual schools, but it seems weird that a BFA would not count but a BA in, say, art history does. You would most likely have more prereqs to complete than say a previous bio major, but we all had at least a few, and at least your Eng/math/foreign language type stuff is done with.

Yes... however if you dont have the prereqs (a number of units in Anatomy and physio, chem, micriobio, etc...) depending on the school, be prepared to spend a sem or more taking them! good luck!
