Buffalo gets a bad rap but it's actually a great little city. The area right around the south campus, where the nursing school is, is sort of college ghetto. But, very close by is what's called "North Buffalo" and "Parkside" neighborhoods. They are more residential and have lots of nice apartments. It's extremely affordable cost of living and tuition. You can find a nice 3 bedroom (in an older home but modernized - no brand new housing right around here) for anywhere from $575-725. If you come to interview, make sure you ask for directions to Delaware Park and Hertel Ave. and drive around to check it out - much nicer than the south campus area. The winters are not as bad as people think - directly south of Buffalo is what gets the worst snow. The summers are perfect - 75-80, sunny, little humidity - springlike. There are three major streets for shops/restaurants/bars - Hertel (little Italy-esque), Elmwood (very yuppy/alternative), Chippewa (very nice bars). I've been here for two years and really like it - locals are extremely friendly and outgoing. There are tons of things going on, especially in the summer. Hi - I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree from a 4 year college. I took not just art classes but liberal arts as well - and honors courses in English, literature, speech, etc. I didn't know if this is acceptable or if they're strictly looking for a BS or BA (I realize I have several prerequisites to take as well which I can do at our community college). I've searched several sites and they all say "bachelors in another field" and then on an other place on the site say "BS/BA" - not sure what to make of that. If anyone knows I'd really appreciate it.
