Self Scheduling

self scheduling!!!

in our er and icu we have self scheduling. do any of you have this, and if so, how do you like it? for those of you unfamiliar with it, you self schedule your shifts for a 6 week period. you are obligated to do so many nite shifts, so many day shifts, so many weekends. how you work them, is your choice. the staff is broken down into teams, each scheduling period the list of teams goes up with the scheduling date that they sign up. this month i was last. :( so i basically got the crap. i am doing like one week of days, one two weeks of nites. my next rotation will be mucho better!! evenings are also considered nites, so essentially you can get away without ever doing a nite. :) the team that was last to sign up gets boosted up to first for the next rotation. that way everyone gets a fair chance. i actually really like it. i am able to work around my kids, appts, etc.

now that i am in it, i couldn't imagine anyone making up my shifts for me!

cheers!
