medical transcription

I was just wondering if any other nurses had any info on doing medical transcription at home, such as training or how to get started in this. I am very interested in doing this part-time at home along with my nursing. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Barb

Hi Barb, Welcome. I used to do Transcription in house for hospitals. Never did try the at-home companies but it is a good idea, hope you find a good company, let us know.

Go to mtjobs.com or mtdaily.com

I see that Edix was advertising recently.

My mother-in-law does this and LOVES it! Good luck in your pursuit!

! i know a nurse who is taking this course through home study. it is a good home-based job, i hear.

I looked into it for awhile as a home based job would be ideal for me too! Trouble was for me, it wasn't lucrative....it reallyseemed like an unreasonable cut in pay for an experienced nurse...at least for a long, long time until you had the experience to demand a higher salary, or go out on your own. :)

But if a person could make ends meet on the pay, it sure sounds like a nice , low stress, home based job! Good luck to you and let us know what you decide...there are lots of programs online and via mail to choose from!!
