I’m one of those who took and passed the PNLE 2006 board exam and unfortunately, there's still a TRO about the registration for those who passed so I still can’t get my license. Hence, I decided to review for the NCLEX exam as not to waste my time waiting for my license. And here’s my dilemma…

I already applied and will be starting my 3-month-review in Kaplan this week and I still haven't submitted any credentials to NY because the TRO will be terminated at the end of October. I just want to ask, how long does CGFNS will process my CVS and added to that is the processing of NYBON for me to receive my ATT? (I decided to take the exams at NY since all my relatives were there.) One of the staffs in Kaplan told me that ideally, it would take me 3 months before I received my ATT but my friend said that the staff (in another branch of Kaplan) told her that it would take us 4-5 months. I’m really confused. I just want to take my NCLEX exam at least, right after I finished my review course in Kaplan so as to not forget what I’ve learned there.

My review will end on December and I was hoping I could take the test on January. Is that possible?

Both of them are false. It is very uncommon that the CVS for NY and NYSED would be able to give you an eligibility letter that early and this is for those who don't have issues at all w/ their credentials unlike the June 2006 batch.

You may use the Search function here at allnurses and search for threads re: how long it took some posters to receive their eligibility and their are a lot.

Another thing is that there's a TRO as well just like what you said.

Part of the Credential Verification Service (CVS) for NY is for CGFNS to send a letter of request to the PRC to give out a verification of your license and your transcript to your school. There might be no problems re: your transcript but no license can be verified from the PRC until everything is resolved.

If you want peace of mind. You may want to contact CGFNS and NYSED and ask them your concerns.

Are those staff even nurses or if they are did they even applied for NCLEX before? The best information are those coming from your colleagues who has already gone through the process. Did they even tell you that you need CGFNS' CVS for NY done first?

This forum right here has the best collections of threads pertaining to each one's own personal experiences. If you'll do a search here you'll find posters that have made the same query as you are and other posters giving their opinions and advice since they have gone through the process before.

The fastest I know from recent memory is about 7-8 months and this was last year and his wife who applied at the same time as he did is up to now not even been made eligible yet. Note that this is from last year's batch where there were no issues re: the licenses.

Just want to add that if your ultimate goal is to work in NY then you really have no choice but to go through CVS for NY eventhough you passed the NCLEX already in another state ot licensed already in another state.

Vermont processes the eligibility for NCLEX quite fast as what posters here are saying but endorsing to NY will only make it worse because you still have to go through CVS for NY no matter what. Of course you don't have to take the NCLEX again.

and many states have not released permission to sit for the exam, if you took the nle in june. there are those that got the att, but they applied before they even took that exam.

think about it: all of you that keep telling me about nurses that recieved the att that took the nle test. licenses would have just come out in august, if they would have. and there are very few states that issue approval in just a few weeks. this is just the second week of september.

so there would not have been any verification of the license yet.........doubt if prc would have been using courier service to begin with.

i know that all of you are anxious to take the nclex exam, but you also have to look at it if you were on the other side of the pacific ocean, and working for a board of nursing over here.

awww... so i can't really take an nclex unless i prove to them that i'm not part of the scam? but i thought the gov't made an action for that (revamping BON and statistically checking the test paper) and that people were just waiting for the lifting of TRO?

besides, i watched a news last night stating that, people still made an oath but not to PRC; since RA9173 (nursing law in phil.) stated that, there were other people whom they can make an oath to (gov't officials, notary public, ect.).

i just hope, health prof there in US wouldn't generalized us, for i believe that i can still prove to them that i'm competent enough as an entry-level nurse. (it's not just all knowledge they're considering, ne?) :)

it's not that i don't want to work here, but my family & relatives were all waiting for me to be there (in NY). and of course, i'll still work for 2 years in here before i go to the states, it's just that i want to take nclex, since the lessons were still fresh in my mind and i'm still up for an all-nighter reviewing and reading.:)

It is being generalizxed here in the US, and the only way to clear your name is to retest.
